Privacy Policy
E-motion eBikes, operated by Overstrand Adventures, values your privacy and is committed to protecting your personal information. This policy describes how we collect, use and safeguard information in line with South Africa's Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA). Last updated: 16 September 2026.
1. What we collect
When you book, buy or enquire, we may collect your name, email address, telephone or WhatsApp number, order or booking details, selected product, payment reference and fulfilment information. Experience bookings may also require rider count and details needed for safe bike allocation and participation, including height, weight, cycling experience, medical or allergy information, and emergency-contact details. Please only provide information relevant to your order or booking.
2. Why we collect it
We use this information to answer enquiries, allocate suitable equipment, manage and confirm bookings and payments, send safety and logistical updates, contact an emergency person when necessary, meet legal obligations, prevent fraud and improve our service. Marketing messages are sent only where you have opted in or where otherwise permitted by law, and you may opt out.
3. Data sharing & security
We use reasonable safeguards and do not sell or lease personal information. We share only what is necessary with providers that support the service, including Booklink for booking administration, PayFast for payment processing, WhatsApp where you contact us there, and our website and email hosting providers. Those providers process information under their own privacy terms and security controls.
4. Payment data
Online payments are processed by PayFast through the shop's hosted checkout, Booklink or an approved payment link. We store the order reference, selected item, amount and payment status needed to verify and fulfil an order, but do not collect or store your full card number or banking credentials. PayFast handles payment information under its own privacy and security practices.
5. Retention, cookies & advertising measurement
We keep information only for as long as reasonably required for bookings, safety, customer service, accounting and legal obligations. The website uses essential local storage to remember your privacy choice. If you select “Accept measurement”, the Google Ads tag loads and may use cookies or similar device identifiers to measure page activity and whether an advertisement leads to a contact-form submission, WhatsApp enquiry or hand-off to Booklink. The site does not send the contents of your enquiry form to Google through these conversion events.
You can choose “Essential only” and continue using the website without optional Google measurement. You can change your decision at any time using the “Privacy choices” control displayed on the site. Google processes measurement data under its own privacy terms.
6. Your rights under POPIA
Under POPIA, you have the right to request access to the personal data we hold about you, request corrections to inaccurate information, or request the deletion of your data from our systems.
