Got questions about our guided routes, fitness requirements, or e-bike fleet? Here are answers to our most common rider inquiries.
Do I need to be fit or an experienced cyclist?
No special fitness is needed because the pedal-assist motor does the heavy lifting. Basic bicycle competency is required: you should be able to balance, steer and handle a bicycle comfortably. All routes are graded gentle to moderate.
What e-bikes do you use in your rental fleet?
We ride premium, all-terrain fat-tire e-bikes specifically selected for coastal sand and gravel fynbos trails. Our fleet features comfortable step-thru frames, 4-inch wide puncture-resistant tires and smooth electric pedal assist that makes hills and headwinds effortless.
Where in the Overstrand do you operate?
Our main trailheads are located around Kleinmond, the Bot River Lagoon, and Rooisands Nature Reserve. We regularly welcome guests staying across the entire Overstrand region, including Betty's Bay, Pringle Bay, Rooiels, and Hermanus. We can also arrange custom group departures.
What is included in the tour price?
Every experience includes an allocated fat-tire e-bike, sanitized helmet, high-visibility reflective vest, compulsory safety briefing and licensed guide. The Weekly E-Scape includes sightseeing, photo stops and a lunch stop. The route and exact inclusions for private and marshal-supported experiences are confirmed before payment.
What should I wear and bring on the ride?
Wear comfortable outdoor or athletic clothing and closed-toe footwear (sneakers or trail shoes are ideal; no flip-flops or open sandals). We recommend bringing sunglasses, sunscreen, a reusable water bottle, and a light windbreaker or fleece as coastal weather in the Overstrand can shift quickly.
What is your cancellation and weather policy?
Safety and enjoyment come first. Coastal weather is part of the adventure, but if heavy rain or unsafe winds occur, we will reschedule your slot or issue a 100% full refund—your choice. You may also reschedule or cancel free of charge up to 24 hours prior to your scheduled ride.
Is there an age or weight limit for riders?
The normal minimum rider age is 14. A younger child may join only by prior arrangement and must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian on the same trip. The maximum rider weight is 110 kg. We also use rider height and experience to allocate a suitable bike.
How do booking and payment work?
The Saturday Weekly E-Scape is booked and paid in full online through Booklink. Private and marshal-supported experiences are arranged on WhatsApp and can be secured with a 50% deposit or paid in full through a payment link. Any remaining balance can be paid by card before departure.
