Terms & Conditions
These terms govern your booking and participation in e-bike rides provided by e-motion (E-motion Adventures), Kleinmond, Overstrand. By making a booking, you agree to them. Last updated: 29 June 2026.
1. What's included
Your booking covers a premium pedal-assist e-bike for the session, a helmet and safety gear, a friendly pre-ride briefing, a marshal with the group, route access, and light refreshments. We deliver the bikes to the start point, charged and checked - you simply meet us there and ride.
2. Weather & tide
Our rides take place outdoors and run weather-permitting; coastal rides also depend on the tide. We confirm or stand each ride down based on conditions closer to the time. If we cancel a ride for weather, tide, safety, or because the minimum group size is not reached, you receive a full refund of your deposit or the option to move to another date - it's your choice.
3. Deposit & payment
A R200 deposit per rider secures your seat when you book online, in South African Rand (ZAR). The balance of the ride fee (the price shown at booking, less your deposit) is payable on the day, before departure, by card or cash. A seat is held only once the deposit is successfully processed.
4. Group size
Rides run with a minimum of 2 and a maximum of 8 riders. If the minimum is not reached by 24 hours before the start, the ride may be cancelled and your deposit refunded or transferred to another date.
5. Changes, cancellations & no-shows
You may reschedule or cancel up to 24 hours before your ride for a full deposit refund or transfer. Cancellations made within 24 hours of the start, or no-shows, forfeit the R200 deposit. If we cancel a ride for any reason, you are fully refunded or rebooked at no cost.
6. Who can ride & safety
Riders must be 14 years or older, and under-18s must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian on the same ride. Our bikes comfortably carry riders up to 100 kg. You should be able to balance and ride a standard bicycle; the pedal-assist motor does the hard work, so no special fitness is needed, though routes are graded easy to moderate. An approved helmet must be worn at all times, the pre-ride safety briefing is compulsory, and the marshal's instructions must be followed throughout. You may not ride under the influence of alcohol or drugs; we may refuse participation, without refund, to anyone unfit to ride safely.
7. Health
Please tell us at booking of any medical condition that may affect your ride. You take part at your own risk and should be in good general health to do so.
8. Wine tasting & drinks
Where a ride includes a tasting or alcoholic refreshments (for example The Cellar Circuit), these are for guests aged 18 and over and ID may be required. Please enjoy responsibly - riders must remain in full control of their bike at all times.
9. Operating areas
Our rides take place off public roads - along the Kleinmond coastline and Bot River Lagoon, through Rooisands Nature Reserve, the Escape wine farm, and the Overberg canola fields. Bikes are trailered to the start point by vehicle; riding on public tar roads is not part of our rides unless directed by a marshal.
10. Environmental conduct
Riders agree to our rider's code: keep it real, have fun, respect the environment, and leave nothing but tracks. Littering, leaving designated tracks, or disturbing wildlife may end the ride without a refund.
11. Your equipment
The e-bike and gear remain our property. Check your assigned bike during the briefing. Normal wear and tear is covered, but you may be liable for the cost of repair or replacement of equipment lost or damaged through misuse, reckless behaviour, or failure to follow instructions.
12. Photos
We may take photographs or video during rides for our marketing. Let us know at any time if you would prefer not to be included.
13. Liability & indemnity
All riders sign our standard liability waiver and indemnity before mounting the e-bike. Cycling carries inherent risks, including falls, collisions, and natural obstacles, which you accept by taking part voluntarily. To the extent permitted by law, e-motion, its staff and partners are not liable for any personal injury, loss, or damage to property arising from your participation, except where caused by our gross negligence. Nothing in these terms limits your rights under the Consumer Protection Act.
14. Route changes
We may adjust the route, timing or stops where needed for safety or conditions.
